I would get the Trip Pass and buy it if you see it offered on your reservation. There is no guarantee it will be available again. Use it at LAX and in IAH to your heart's content. Save those one-time-passes for later this year and if you end up not having a use before expiration, gift them to someone you know who is traveling, maybe around the holidays.
I 100% agree with this. With lounges not accepting one-time passes, the trip pass is guaranteed entry. We always opt for longer connections when possible and arrive at the airport on the earlier side, so lounge access is useful to us. My parents fly NRSA since my father is a retired pilot, so we give them the one-time passes if we don't use them.
