I was also asked to contact Rynn’s Luggage, though they said, "you are out of our range of service and we are unable to assist with this request." I assume this means they do not serve Taiwan, where I live.

If you would really prefer some (small) amount of cash to the 10,000 AAdvantage miles, you could try filing a DOT complaint online, and see how AA responds.
