As a data point, the ORD website claims that the TTB runs every 15 minutes, but that is, at least in my experience, untrue. Yesterday, there was a ~35 minute wait from the time we arrived at the T5 bus gate to the time we first boarded the bus. They checked everyone's boarding passes and IDs 2x. It was a long and tedious process, all said nearly an hour gate to gate, we ended up cutting it pretty close for our connection. I'd go landside and take the ATS next time assuming precheck & priority.
To revisit this, I just did the transfer from T5 again via the ATS and was inside T3 security quite literally within 20 minutes (in fairness, we had access to FFCI, but on the other hand we were also checking bags under two separate reservations). Overall, I don't see the point of the bus at all.
