Last Sept/Oct I flew YYZ-HKG-SYD and back. At the time of booking, I chose to have it credited to my BA Executive Club mileage program rather than Cathay's - of which I am also a member. Wasn't planning any Asia travel after that trip, and didn't see a need to pile up miles with Cathay. However, I didn't consider the Status issue, and how it would be useful with all One World carriers. Those flights were worth 600 Tier Points in BA, but because those specific flights were not marketed by BA of Iberia, the 600 Tier Points are worthless unless I take 4 flights on BA before my membership anniversary - March 8. Is it possible, since the flights were actually with Cathay, to have those miles and points reversed - moved out of BA and into CX? Had I simply taken it all in CX points, I would have earned One World Sapphire status for the coming year. At the time of booking, Status was not even a consideration .... we haven't traveled enough in the last 10 years for it to have mattered. Now retired and wanting to plan a lot of travel, it matters.
