I wondered why DL went away from the stainless steel straps with the screw together connection. But, then I had a bag that went missing. When DL located it, the handle to which the luggage tag, and the baggage tag, had been connected had been ripped away. My suspicion was that the metal strap had gotten caught somewhere in the baggage handling system and the handle was torn off. Hopefully the plastic strap will fail before the luggage handle.
