I would do this with the trip pass. It's a tough itinerary and I wouldn't want to spend my time in those terminals (especially LAX, which tends to be very crowded). The LAX UC is indeed one of the best in the entire system.
SFO UCs suck and are often too crowded to use a one-time pass.
