I've been on a few over the years, last one in New Zealand. Can't say I found them to be a problem even with cabin bags and the wife in tow. Pretty sure it was a Finnair ATR 72 I once checked in my bike as well.
Same experience here concerning a flight on a late model ATR 72 operated by Air Tahiti out of and back into Papeete.
And I found this aircraft to be quieter than the older, early model ATR 72 equipment operated on American Eagle flights serving the former San Juan AA hub.
