New routes
Now this might be a stretch, but a fifth freedom flight between the UK and US would be a great addition. I'd love to see Emirates do a DXB-LHR-JFK or bring back the second daily flight to LAX with a stop in LHR. I know the transatlantic market is fiercely competitive but I reckon EK would do well if they entered the transatlantic market. With consumers already well aware of how good the Emirates experience can be, this being offered on transatlantic flights will see them do well. Heathrow may be a struggle to secure an additional slot from but a fifth freedom flight from either LGW, MAN, EDI or GLA to the US would be a more realistic prospect. LGW and MAN in particular could do with a direct flight to Los Angeles. LGW to JFK has BA and Norse operating on it but there could be a slot for Emirates to fill there.
More destinations in the USA and Canada, including Las Vegas, Denver, Atlanta, Calgary, Vancouver, Phoenix and a return to Fort Lauderdale. Other destinations that could be looked at but are less likely include San Diego, Detroit and looking at the Caribbean, possibly Barbados and Antigua.
New destinations in Europe, Helsinki probably being one of the biggest cities that's currently unserved along with the earlier suggestions of Berlin and Stuttgart. Other destinations include Malaga, Palma de Mallorca, Ibiza, Tenerife South, Marseille and possibly a return to Porto.
Darwin and Fukuoka also added.
I've long thought LHR-JFK for EK would certainly be a great opportunity. Yes, competition from BA/AA specifically, but I think many would pull to the EK side if offered (granted it would have to be an updated a/c to truly be above). What would also be advantageous is if EK could get this, add this to the UA codeshare.
Additionally, I do see frequency being added back to numerous, but for new routes I can see EK doing DEN with a codeshare to expand reach in the smaller cities in the US. I think they missed out on getting into MSP/DTW prior to TK, but if they can jump on before QR, that would be great. I'd also like to see EK jump on an 11am EWR-DXB to offer a second option with UA in the evening.
