What is the depreciation curve on a suitcase? Who calculates that? Is it age or usage dependent?
From the U.S. DOT:

"When the damage to the bag cannot be repaired, airlines will negotiate a compensation amount based on the value of the bag and its depreciation."

I think that you can probably find various depreciation schedules for luggage.
