I would jump at 10,000 AAdvantage miles if I were you, and see if you can possibly add to them by crediting some of your future hotel stays, car rentals, or oneworld flights to AAdvantage.
Any time I've had the airline break or misplace a bag, they've covered replacement value, as long as it's reasonable. $120 is more than reasonable of an ask, it's quite low for a suitcase even.

What is the depreciation curve on a suitcase? Who calculates that? Is it age or usage dependent?
