I had the same reaction. A $120 bag that is several years old can't be worth much at this point. I'd have jumped at the miles and moved on. (Actually, I likely wouldn't have even bothered to file a claim on a bag that inexpensive. I'd have just chalked it up as a reason to get a new one and move on. The value of my time is worth more than the time it would take to stand in line and deal with a baggage office, for any airline, for only a few dollars.)
