Holiday Inn Eindhoven (Revisit)

What is your IHG One Rewards status? Platinum

Were you happy with the hotel/stay? yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Standard King double booked, upgraded to Executive room on checkin

How are the rooms? Quite large, plenty of space especially for 1. At a guess maybe 30sq m, plus entrance and bathroom.
Apart from a large desk and work area a single chair and table facing the TV.
large window view across the rooftops.

What was your welcome gift?
4 bottle of water and 2 small chocalates. it's the standard thing they've done for years although the chocolate has now changed.

What was good and what was bad?
Good

it's fine, nothing especially bad to say about it. Pretty consistent standard in the 25+ years i've been visiting.
La Trappe Quadrouple on tap in the bar
short walk to the city centre
Car park has good number plate recognition - only need to get a ticket when you arrive and pay at checkin. And never seen it full.
no need for pre-approval or payment or card presentation at checkin. just pay when i checkout.
Rooms still in good condition, it's been a long time since a refresh and it doesn't need it.

Bad
Still the pool is out of order, the leak still not fixed for >1 year now
The shower head is turned to the wall and due to the twist in the hose won't actually turn to be a shower. Undone a fraction of a turn so it functions corretcly, but also now jetting out across the bathroom.
Main car park door still requires a keycard so its a long walk around to reception with baggage if you arrive late.
breakfast gets very busy from 7.45am
it's very obviously a business hotel. If you're a tourist and don't appreciate that then this is not for you.
restaurant closes at 9.30pm, but thats apparently a Dutch thing. If arriving late, eat before you arrive.
Suitcase shelf is quite small and barely big enough for a carryon. large cases probably need to go on the floor.

Value for $ or One Rewards Points? Would you return?
around 110euro/night including breakfast on a corporate rate, its fine and about what i'd expect. I'm back in a couple of months....
