I made a 2 separate bookings at this hotel and cancelled both of them within the cancellation window, but the hotel still charged my credits cards for one of the nights. They somehow duplicated each booking, so when I cancelled, it only cancelled my original booking, and not the phantom bookings the hotel made on my behalf. The front desk acknowledged I did not make these reservations and that they were created without my knowledge but are still refusing to refund me.

When I rang Marriott corporate, they confirmed that this was an error in their booking system and told me I would be refunded, but the hotel will not relent. It seems Marriott corporate can't do anything in this situation because the Sheraton needs to process the refund, which seems strange to me, and an excellent way to drive off loyalty members (I'm Platinum with 15 stays already locked in for this year, which I'm considering cancelling and moving over to Hilton). I've had to dispute the charges with both card companies.

I have cancelled dozens of reservations and this has never been an issue, but this happened twice at the same hotel. This is suspicious and seems intentional. I would recommend avoiding this place and booking the AC hotel, which is right next door, and is great!
Welcome to Flyertalk, Minihaus!

This is a known issue with Marriott's system and not specific to the hotel: No-show charge for cancelled (and confirmed as cancelled) reservation.

If you have the cancellation email or number, provide that to the hotel's accounting department to request a refund. And yes, the hotel needs to process the refund, not Marriott corporate, since it's the hotel who charged you.
