Checked bag included but you may have to fight for it
Flew ALC-CPH-BRU last week on Go Light and was refused a checked bag at ALC. Called SAS customer service on the spot and was first told I was entitled to one, then asked to wait while put on hold while the agent double checks, only for him to come back and say he had been mistaken and in fact there is no entitlement.
I ended up paying €35 to bring the bag on board (checked would’ve cost €80).
While in transit at CPH, I submitted a claim via the SAS website under “Travel extras bought not rendered”. To my surprise it took less than 24hr for them to respond as follows:
“We are sorry to hear that you were required to pay for the checked baggage on this travel and apologize for the inconvenience. There is unfortunately a technical limitation with the implementation of the SkyTeam baggage allowance benefit on light fares, and this should be known by the airport/check-in staff to be manually handled.”
They asked me to provide the receipt which I did and the refund came in the next day.
In short, they do seem to honor the benefit but not every check-in agent/airport, or even CS agent at SAS seem to be aware.
