As far as I know, you check in at Terminal 5 with Delta.
I highly doubt you can check the bags all the way to PPT with such a long layover & two different tix.
PM = SkyTeam Elite Plus = Biz/First counter if flying on Air France (worldwide, regardless of actuall class of service).
Last time I've been to LAX, you first had to check in, and then upon request bring your baggage to the x-ray. No special line for elite/biz/first flyers when it comes to the baggage x-ray.
