I realized the exact same thing, had my go to cashier ring me up to the last step, and the mastercard promo didn't kick in. I asked her if it was rebate week and she said that I would know better than her, so I asked her to toss them out and she did. They've been on a MC/V/Off/Off schedule for over 18 months now, so a human definitely stepped in to disrupt this, probably not a good sign. I know OD must take a beating on this though.
ETA- Staples just came off their back to back MC/V weeks ending the 8th, so would have to wait a while for them too, though not sure of their usual routine, if any that's not random.
Between the two cards and the two stores they each have a week back to back to back to back. Next week should be VGC ODOM. The following week MCGC at Staples. Then VGC at Staples.
I definitely agree though that someone intentionally ended the promotion. It's been on autopilot for at least a year that I know of. My local store usually doesn't even have the promotion displayed but The correct price always until today was displayed after checkout. 🤔
