AA should have kept them and if not utilized internationally, perhaps utilized domestically, especially to push multiple customers out in bad IRROPS or high travel periods (CES in LAS, etc).
Combination of small subfleet, old age and need for a heavy check was why the a333s were retired.

AA has 47 77Es vs only 9 a333s. Additionally the a333s had GE engines vs the a332s were RR. The a332s were much younger and AA had 15 of them.
