What was AA's official reason for discontinuing the A333's back then? Retirement? Makes no sense, as there were/are older 777's still in rotation.

AA should have kept them and if not utilized internationally, perhaps utilized domestically, especially to push multiple customers out in bad IRROPS or high travel periods (CES in LAS, etc).
