No its been an A380 for a while including when I booked I presume.

But I didn’t check. Being a local of the city, I know the 284 is typically an A380 and the 286 is a 77W. So my bad in that sense but my two questions still stand - 1. To help me make more informed decisions later on and 2. To prepare for the eventually that my flight may be cancelled…
1. set alerts for Aircraft Type Change on Expertflyer - you can cover a vast date range, but you would need to do daily day by day
