Good point, next time I'll deal with Aeroplan directly and immediately. I asked Aeroplan what happened, and they said they don't know, and only Air India could tell. But AI are refusing to tell me why I was kicked off of the flight, even though I reminded them that DOT regulation requires them to do so.
Outside of a few days, it's rebooking. It's scummy on their part, and you should have contacted Aeroplane, but with days notice a few hours of change is hardly going to be a high priority for anyone to dig into.
