I see the award space on AA's site for jal 233 hnd-okj. but AA is not able to add it.

In the past I have been always able to add a domestic connection within japan, and never had issues but it seems this time its trouble.

I know i am within the 24hour connection time, but I just don't want to pay more points for a connection, when it should be able to be added to my current itinerary.

Advice?
It's very difficult these days to add segments, between JL's married segment logic (which you don't know if it's in play or not) and AAgents not knowing how to add anymore when it is possible.
The flight you desire is ~$80 on JAL or $60 on ANA for similar time. I'd buy it on cash and save all the headaches and time.
