This is a newer property in a great location, next to Takayama station. I stayed on points (previously 20,000, currently 8,000). Cash rates are around ¥20,000.
My first time at an Ascend. Hints of Choice Hotels influence, with self check-in machines, lockers for suitcases, ice machine, laundry.
On the other hand, bigger rooms and much nicer atmosphere. Lots of local artwork, woodwork etc.
Nice onsen on 2nd floor.
Breakfast is a set menu for about ¥1800. Other food looked good and at reasonible prices.
Large parking lot in front with a hotel rate of ¥1500, but the lot next door is half the price.
Multilingual staff.
Staying on the 8th floor "around floor" grants you access to a small lounge with soft drinks, nuts, cookies. Also some sake and cheap whiskey and shochu.
The Panarama room was huge. Two toilets, 3 large beds, sofas, 2 large TVs. The "kitchen" is really just an oven toaster. No utensils provided, but they were happy to give us some plates.

Dumb name leading to jokes such as "is my hotel around here."
