I am Delta PM flying MCO to LAX, spending 15 hours in LA, and then flying LAX to PPT on the midnight flight. A couple of questions.

I assume that since we have 15 hour layover in LA, and the two trips are on separate itineraries, that we need to collect our bags in LAX and then recheck them; is this true?

Does AF use Delta counters in Terminal 5? If so, do I go to Medallion line to check in first or do I have to xray baggage first? When in line to xray baggage, is there a separate line for medallions?

If there is a separate Air France counter, can I use "preferred" lines as a Delta PM even though flying on coach?

Flying out at midnight on a Wednesday night, how early do we need to get to LAX?
