You can generally do better than Pay with Miles 1 cent per mile value with award bookings. Especially with Amex 15% discount. In example below, Main award is 30K miles, while using Pay with Miles on cash fare would require nearly 40K miles. Note that both Pay with Miles and Amex 15% discount require that booked itins be 100% Delta metal for application.
Thanks! I did not notice anything that said ineligible... I did see that it said 80000 miles after making $3000 purchase. Keeping my fingers crossed.
as for my original question about the $800 valuation of 80000 miles, I was just thinking that was at a minimum. if I combine the 80000 with the other miles I currently have towards premium cabin award travel, they should be worth a lot more than that.
