If your value proposition for the program has changed because the price of some United and Etihad awards is going up by an unspecified amount - or if you simply no longer see sufficient value in it - you may find another program better fits your needs, but I’d definitely recommend some deep reading before you chase greener grass.

We don’t have to love dynamic pricing to recognize that it’s a trend more and more of the industry is adopting, but even if you assume Cathay’s never going to make that move, it’s worth considering that they made substantial devaluations to the AsiaMiles program in 2023 and I believe 2018, which suggests another round can be expected in another year or two. No program is immune to this.

In the meantime, I would suggest that whether the jump to a Oneworld-based program better fits your needs, will depend largely on where and how you earn and use your points.
