SLC is a nice airport, I have flown through it twice since the new terminal opened and both times I commented to myself at how nice it was and how it is not terribly overpriced like other airports.
LAS has never been that clean nor nice, the concessions are not amazing either, it is one of my least favorite airports in the USA.
Hyundai/Kia products have a lot of great features for the money, I always try and pick a Hyundai/Kia product for car rentals because generally they will have niceties like Android Auto/Adaptive Cruise Control/Lane Centering and Blind Spot Monitor where as other makes generally do not offer these features as strandard.
I too am not ready for an EV in large part because the charger network is not built up enough yet and I still like the power and sound of my V8s and V6s, although I did just purchase a truck with hybrid 4 cylinder and I have been impressed with the power output so far.
Lastly and I realize I am probably droning on about Walmart and Palm Beach County, but my wife and I were recently down in Palm Beach County visiting friends in Boca and we had the strangest occurrence happen at the Walmart on Military Trail south of Linton, Blvd.
Back home our Nespresso machine died after almost 10years of ownership and we did not have time to buy a new one before we left to head down south. We were going to order directly from Nespresso, but our friends that we were going to visit said that they bought their Nespresso machine from Walmart on Military in Delray for less than Nespresso sells it and since you are picking it up, no shipping and handling, so Walmart is roughly $20 less than Nespresso itself.
While we drove down to see our friends, my wife ordered the Nespresso and set it up for in-store pickup, upon arrival as we were walking in, two young men, one with a camera and the other talking into maybe his cellphone ran into the Walmart. My wife and I thought that was strange, but whatever and made our way to the in-store pickup location to get our Nespresso machine.
We then hear loud talking and sure enough it was the two young men, this time talking to a third man about inappropriate behavior with a minor, it was very strange, but not our business, so we left with our machine and saw three Delray Beach PD vehicles parked out front and some DPD Officers talking amongst themselves.
My wife said, maybe we should mention it to the Police as it sounded like whatever the guy did was probably illegal and she walked over to the Officer and started to tell him about it, he said yeah that is Dustin and they are hear to handle the situation. Anyway, after some Googling in the car on the way to the hotel, it turns out that this Dustin uses the Walmart on Military Trail to catch accused child predators and after they are arrested, he puts the videos of the interaction on YouTube.
I cannot say that I have ever encountered that before.
Anyway, I realize that is very off-topic, but as we have discussed the Walmarts of Palm Beach County, I figured you might find it interesting.
I look forward the next installments of your trip report, keep up the good work.
Thank you so much
kmersh I love adding the details wherever I am able to make my TRs juicier and more interesting. What can I say? I guess I am a travel nerd
I agree 100% SLC has become one of my favorite airports thanks to how nice it is as well as it not being horribly overpriced on concessions. Of the DL hubs I have used I would say SLC is my favorite followed by JFK (also my former home airport) and ATL (and I still like it but had bad luck coming home from my 2022 Vegas trip as I misconnected

)
Wow I never knew that about LAS. I don't remember it being as bad in the late 1990s/early 2000s but then again, I did not notice these details as much since I was just a kid. I agree with you for a city as amazing as Vegas, their airport is just not up to par.
Agree 100%! Hyundais and Kias, even on their base trims, offer a lot for the money. Ditto these days, I try to pick a Hyundai/Kia whenever possible when renting a car as they almost always have Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Adaptive Cruise Control/Lane Centering, and Blind Spot Monitoring which are not always easy to come by on the lower trims of other makes.
Ditto I am not ready to purchase an EV myself either, although it is different for me as in addition to a limited charging network (although FL's charging network is better than average thanks to most, if not all rest areas along the Turnpike and I-95 as far as I know having EV chargers), my driving habits of commuting constantly and taking trips within FL would make it harder with an EV. I cannot argue with that although my Kia Forte is a 4-cylinder, I do love the V8 sound on my Mother's Dodge Charger R/T. I think hybrids are the way to go as far as moving towards electrification, as they are a more proven technology than EVs and also have the convenience of ICE engines and some of the benefits of EVs, in addition to fabulous fuel economy. What kind of hybrid did you get? My next car may be a hybrid as I appreciate the technology.
That's awesome that you were able to get your Nespresso at Walmart for $10 less than through Nespresso (and another $10 off for in-store pickup). Holy smokes 10-years that's incredible our Cuisinart coffee maker, which is pretty good, just died after about 3-years of service and we bought one to replace it at Costco.
Holy smokes that is crazy about a strange occurrence at that Walmart! It is crazy that Dustin uses our Walmart to catch accused child predators, but I guess that the busy location makes for a perfect spot for Dustin and the Delray Beach Police Department. Good on all of them for making the world a safer place!
I have never encountered that either to be honest, but nonetheless, me and my Mother otherwise always feel safe shopping at the Walmart on Military.
No worries at all I appreciate all this information kmersh!

FYI
https://www.wptv.com/news/palm-beach...hild-predators , while the linked story is from a different day than when my wife and I were there, it is about the Dustin I mentioned in my previous post.
Dustin is amazing and a hero for sure!

It's incredible how Dustin is able to catch these child predators and how many he caught (20-30 child predators in a seven month period!). I appreciate you posting this story thank you so much!
