By way of update, finally got the compensation after over 6 months..... CAA advised to go back to LH mentioned UK261. LH then made up some excuse that UK261 does not apply to non-UK passengers! Went back to CAA and asked if they could take the case on instead of using Söp (didn't want a non-UK ADR handing decision on a UK matter). CAA agreed after a bit of wait and admin. But as soon as they contacted LH, LH emailed the same day offering to pay up! £520 came through quickly but missed the reimbursement under Duty of Care. But it appears the case had been picked up by LH's ""Premium Legal Feedback Services" by then so it came through a few days later after a follow-up.
So if you are stuck, going through CAA is an option worth exploring. LH is just trying to make up whatever excuse they can come up with hoping you would go away.
Good result, just shows pax need to persevere & not let LHG get away with disreputable behaviour
