Hi all, can you please confirm if these steps work for converting TB to a FFC to be used on a non-UA (Air Canada) flight?

Book a UA refundable ticket and cancel after 24hrs. This will convert to a FFC. This credit be used to book for myself, wife and baby (all in same booking)?
