Additionally non-UA status is no help for UA upgrades.

As others have stated, getting the Chase UA Club Infinite card is cheapest / fastest way to get lounge access when flying UA/partners. Again it is annual. Lifetime UC membership is no longer available (discontinued 10+ years ago). The only other *A carrier to offer lounge membership was AC and it has discontinued entirely.
