Has anyone clarified the situation with upgrades. I couldn’t see any reference in the many contributions above. The terms say:

“Bonus Tier Points will be awarded based on the cabin you pay for and fly in and in agreement with clause 11(a) of the Terms and Conditions (below).”Qualifying Flights shall not include (i) Economy Basic fares, (ii) Reward Flights, (iii) upgrades using Avios or other promotional upgrades purchased at the airport and (iv) for a flight marketed by one of our partner airlines.”

Does this mean there are no bonus tier points awarded on upgrades - which would be the literal reading - or that, as now, it is based on the underlying commercial fare? I would have assumed the latter, but the first paragraph refers to the cabin you pay for and fly in. There is no paragraph 11(a), and 10(a) does not add any clarity.
