Actually, that's not necessarily true. In the same way a brand new MacBook Pro is actually more likely to fail after delivery than a 2-year-old model. Defects tends to be from manufacturing and often do not appear until first use. Whereas tried-and-tested electronics tend to be less likely to fail.

Same with brand new cars. More people have issues straight out of the factory. Sure, parts need replacing on older cars, but that's what servicing is about - just remember cars are serviced far less often than your plane which is checked far more regularly.
