Bit surprised it takes as long, because my relative got their Club Premium status extended to Jan '26 even without a flight already and also I got to name a friend to Club Premium instantly. Thought my extension would be automatic too.
It sounds like neither your relative nor your friend are targets of the particular offer being discussed in this thread.
The discussion, and the putative mid-February date, apply only to those who received the email that has been reproduced several times in the thread already. Quite clearly, a person receiving a gift of status through you is not a person that would have received this offer, for example.
