The tier points bonus is essentially meaningless still, but the return of segments will obviously help today's travellers who qualify that way.
These are almost certainly the first two of several concessions. I cannot foresee anything other than a reduction in status thresholds or an increase in tier point earning given the parity required for the IB scheme.
