InterContinental Adelaide
Detailed review with lots of pictures posted over in the IC Adelaide master thread!
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
1 King Classic, received 1 King Junior Suite City View (used Confirmable Suite Upgrade reward, no further upgrades provided)
How are the rooms?
Old, but for their age are well maintained and functional. My junior suite included a guest bathroom and living room as you entered followed by the bedroom and main bathroom with separate bath and shower. TV only has free-to-air channels but they do have Chromecast.
How is the exec. lounge?
Excellent and has improved since my last visit about six months ago. On my previous visit the evening service was entirely self-serve at the buffet however they have since updated this to have plated hot canapés brought to the table, on my first night it was American themed and on the second night it was Indian themed. They still have a buffet, slightly less food on offer however they now have self-serve soft drinks which I think is a great idea. Lounge was particularly busy on the second night and they put out some self-serve hot items as well which was nice. Drinks service was really good despite the lounge being completely full and they even came around at 7pm on the dot to offer a last round. Breakfast was also excellent and included a light buffet as well as a menu of a la carte items from which you can order multiple things if you like, again service was really good and welcoming. Afternoon tea was enjoyable but as usual, the least interesting of the three services.
What was good and what was bad?
The Good- Staff were excellent and I recognised many of them from my prior stay. Special shout out to the lounge staff who were really good, one morning the manager even asked if it was my birthday as apparently it said so in their system. Thankfully they asked and I could confirm it wasn't my birthday, would have been awkward if they had brought out a cake or something!

- Excellent central location
- Good housekeeping and evening turndown, which still includes the iconic South Australian FruChocs
- Last visit I thought the lack of accessible power points near the bed was an issue, they have remedied this with power boards now which is a great idea!
The Bad (nothing major)- Would be nice if they brought the rooms up to modern IC standard and had nicer towels in the bathroom
- One thing to note, on my previous stay the Junior Suite room type specifically noted lounge access however they have removed this which I assume means Club access is no longer included. I have an annual lounge pass so was entitled to access regardless.
Value for $ or IHG One Rewards Points? Would you return?
Paid AUD $190/night for three nights which is unbelievable value especially if you have a lounge pass / lounge access. Would definitely return.
