Vinpearl Landmark 81 is definitely an interesting property. Getting to stay near the peak of Vietnam’s tallest building is definitely a treat. Here are my impressions and photos:
Note: In contrast to previous reports in this thread, I had no issues here with English, and I speak practically zero Vietnamese.
Initial Issue: I was upgraded before arrival to a Club Panoramic King (no suites were available online for my dates besides the Presidential). When I arrived to my room, I noticed that it was insufferably hot and stuffy. Despite being set on 16, the ambient temperature reader on the in-room clock stated that the temperature was hovering between 25 and 26. Even after closing all of the blinds (ruins the purpose of the panoramic view), the temperature did not cool meaningfully. The staff sent an engineer who did something in the ceiling, but I wasn’t willing to deal with this and had little faith that the issue would resolve itself over time. I asked to see a non-Panoramic room and was escorted to a standard room on another floor. Walking into this room was like a blissful cool and maintained a solid ambient temperature between 17 and 19 based on the readings of the in-room clock. Based on the temperature issues and lack of privacy caused by the hallway windows facing the room windows, I would likely decline a panoramic room going forward. The standard room was larger and better.
The following impressions are based on the standard room I actually stayed in:
Pros:
- Bed is comfortable - medium slightly-firm mattress, plush pillows, covers of good plushness for VN climate
- Shower pressure is good - I used the wand as it could be well-angled
- You are going to be higher than everything else around you
- Welcome gift was delightful and whimsical while also tasting good
- No issue with requested 3 PM late checkout
- Destination dispatch elevators work well and are a smart choice as not all of the cabs go to every floor (only 2 go all the way up to the club lounge on 71) - you will need your keycard for most floors (including to call the shuttle cabs from GF to 48F)
- Lounge is just lovely - great dessert choices, lovely cocktails and mocktails during evening service (margarita and Above the Sky strawberry and rum creation), enjoyed the potatoes and bacon dish, evening service is 5 to 8
- Breakfast either in lounge or Oriental Pearl restaurant on 66F - really enjoyed restaurant breakfast - great coffee, great hashbrowns and omelets, good pancakes, nice croissants
Neutral:
- Night stands are too far from the edges of the bed
- Most room functions, including bedside lights, only possible through tablet on one of the aforementioned nightstands that are too far from the bed - controls were responsive, though
Cons:
- Some slight staining on the sheets (nothing major or worth asking for a change)
- AC issue faced in first room
- Location is isolated from the rest of the city and District 1
I would come back for a short stay to enjoy the lounge and views.
