No idea how long it should take, but mine is a few hours off a week at this point. I have zero criminal record, but did live in the US for many years, so I'm not sure if that makes mine easier for harder for them...

Their website states the following for timing...
Most applications go through the AusCheck background check quickly. However, some applications may take longer due to factors like criminal history and security checks.
Which is about as unhelpful as it gets... The video/transcript at https://www.cisc.gov.au/how-we-suppo...round-checking is a little more helpful and states :
Just under 80% of all background checks are completed within 10 business days; including the identity checks, ASIO assessments, criminal history assessments and visa checks.
