On the one hand, it's reassuring to see this as it reveals that they know they're in trouble. Let's hope the trouble deepens and the rollbacks keep coming.

But, the problem remains that the monetary spend gulf between Silver and Gold is massive. And, moreover, making everything spend based makes it much easier to plan one's travel expenditure and corresponding status earning level strategically in advance.

I'll consistently cross the line for Silver but will never get close to Gold. These piddly bonuses offered for a fixed term period, and not applicable to partner flights, will make zero difference to that basic picture.

As such, there remains no good reason for me to look at BA or nTP earning after I hit the 7.5k threshold. It'll then be Star Alliance all the way. And I'm only sticking (grudgingly) with the BAC rather than moving oneworld FF schemes as I'm on 32k old TPs.
