Someone on the EVA Forum said they had no bag allowance on an Aeroplan redemption flying YYZ-TPE on EVA Air (BR). That was a surprise to me so I asked an EVA agent today at the airport.

My question to her was: what happens with baggage on booking class X (it is the class Star Alliance carriers use for economy awards) from other carriers?

To my surprise, she said "it depends" and, without prompting, she cited AC's award booking has 0 baggage allowance.

EVA goes by what is in the eTicket and apparently that is how AC populates the Allowance field.

I wonder if this is intentional or mistake? Does AC really actually pay BR more if it put 1 or 2 in the field? UA's X booking on BR allows at least 1 bag.
