I have not stayed at either hotel, and I'm not familiar with the Rajajinagar neighborhood. I did not like the part of Whitefield the Fairfield is in, but it is right next to a Metro station and there is a nice mall a few Metro stops away. Also ACS Layout is pretty close which would have shopping and restaurants. Just my impression of Bangalore: the downtown and neighborhoods near downtown are lovely. Green and tree lined and easy to walk around. The outlying areas are more like unplanned villages which turned into cities. When it's dry they are dusty, and when it's wet they are muddy.
