Those finishing their journey at LHR will leave the aircraft and continue their journey in the arrivals channel - via linked corridors to UK Border - no change. Those who don't want to participate in the trial can also go via Flight Connections in the normal way, with a security check, as now, at their departure terminal.
Those connecting to any flights from T2/3/4/5 - At the top of the jetbridge passengers should follow the signage where they will be allowed in to the airside departures area at the arrival gate. All connecting passengers will then advised to head straight away to gate 24 for bp checks. Gate 24 is along the same pier as all the gates being used in this trial.
For connections to T3 onward flights - At gate 24 HAL staff will be situated on the same floor as the corridor in the area at the top of the escalators, and will scan people into Positive Boarding, the Heathrow departure system. Once this scan is done, passengers can then continue to go their next gate, to the shopping mall or to any lounges they are entitled to use.
For connections to T5 onward flights - Passengers to go gate 24 and take the escalator down to where the bus holding sub gates are. Gate 24a is being used for this trial. Dedicated buses will go on demand from 24a to T5, and drop off at A10e, which will now work in reverse direction. Once at gate A10e a HAL team will scan people into Ready to Fly and send them up to the main T5 departure level. Step free access is via a lift, or there are stairs (rather a lot of them).Gate A10e is relatively well placed for CCR and South Lounges.
For connections to T2 or T4 onward flights - As with T5 connections, passengers to go gate 24 and down to 24a. Again, dedicated buses will take passengers on to T2 or T4. Please note that for these two terminals buses will drop off at the usual flight connections point. This means passengers will proceed through the normal flight connections centres in T2 and T4, and will have to go through connections security.
For any connections on to CTA flights (UK, Ireland, IoM, Channel Islands) - Please note these are not part of the trial, these flights only depart from T5 and T2. Any passengers connecting on to any of these flights must head upstairs from the arrival gate to continue on the arrivals corridor and use the flight connections centre to proceed to T2 or T5 as normal.
Critical to this phase is that so far no airline staff have been asked to be involved here, so it will be necessary to have a boarding pass for the next service which can be scanned by HAL staff. HAL staff can't issue airline boarding passes or do further check-in work
