Like you, I was always afraid that I'd be asked to size the Cabin Plus and then subsequently have to gate check it, but it never happened. I chalk it up to being GS/1K.

I assume you aren't interested in the aluminum Cabin Plus? I have a couple, and they've held up really well. They are heavier than the polycarbonate version, but not so heavy that it's a dealbreaker.
