Help me decide: Overnight side trip from London to Brussels, Paris, Zurich, or ??
For an upcoming London business trip in April, I get done mid afternoon Friday but don’t fly back till Sunday evening.
Rather than stay in UK, I’d like to take a short side trip to another European country (that I haven’t visited before), either via train or nonstop air. Want to stay around $300 for transport and would probably use Bonvoy or Hyatt points/nights for the lodging.
Here are the options I’ve come up with so far but having a difficult time deciding:
- Paris: easy to get to via Eurostar (or nonstop via LHR) e.g. leave Friday evening, and return either Saturday night or Sunday morning. But 1 day seems too short for Paris. So thinking best to plan a longer trip of 3-5 days don the road
- Zurich: Would need to fly. Fortunately Swiss and BA both have plenty of options. My main concern is IRROPs causing me to miss my return flight Sunday evening. I could fly back Saturday night (instead of Sunday mid-day) to have a large buffer but that would make it a 22 hour visit.
- Brussels: easy to get to via Eurostar. Similar itinerary as Paris. But a friend who recently visited didn’t really enjoy the visit too much and felt I’d be better off going somewhere else. Could also go to Bruge and/or Ghent instead.
For those who have been to these cities, any recommendations or suggestions?
Thanks
