Passengers removed from flight. Does BA ban them?

On Saturday, I witnessed a row on boarding between two passengers about overhead baggage space. It ended up with one grabbing the other. Excellently dealt with by the crew, and the captain then had the offending passenger removed from the flight. The police were not involved, at least not in the cabin (I don’t know what happened back in the terminal).

I was just curious: does BA automatically ban passengers in such circumstances? If so, is it a lifetime ban? Or is there some kind of investigation?
