I don't know enough about the load to comment. MY GUESS is that SOME people will get off at the Taoyuan Station and A LOT of people will get off at the HsinChu Station (11 minutes). So, you probably will get a seat after that.

Pro tip - if you end up getting a "standing only" ticket (highly unlikely unless you're traveling during chinese new year), you can get into the train and ask the trainmaster to assign you a seat. Its almost always going to be available.
Again, I don't know enough as a "Pro" like you. I didn't think the HSR sells "Standing Only" tickets. It is either Reserved or Non-Reserved (Free Seating). Non-Reserved CAN end up being standing BUT you might also get a seat at the Non-Reserved car. I personally don't know the logistics of "ask the trainmaster to assign you a seat" since you really should not be at a Reserved car and I don't think they can assign you a seat at the Non-Reserved car. No?
