I'm in a sport coat probably ... 75%+ of flights so this is of particular interest. I'd say less than 10% of flights FA proactively asks to hang willingly/nicely. Another 40% haphazard percent notice and begrudgingly hang (i.e. without me asking). The balance will hang w/ me asking. Now .... returning during descent? Another story.
