Completely agree with the 911 call. I also would be calling every newspaper, radio station, television station in the city.

Unfortunately cell phone batteries will not last 9 hours (to write it makes me cringe - that bathrooms must have been soooooooo nasty). It astounds me that the flight crew would put up with this also - don't they get tired of seating for 9 nines!

As someone said about - absolutely amazes me what people are willing to tolerate without taking some action. Bravo to the person who dialed 911.
