What day trips did you do? We hadn't been back to queenstown for about 10 years and had usually avoided it in favor of smaller towns. It's a good starting point to see the bottom of south island beauty.
We did a Milford Sound all day trip. Sadly it rained constantly. We also did a Lake Whakatipu Cruise on the TSS Earnslaw (vintage steamship), booked as the Walter Creek High Country Farm tour (Real NZ Tour Operator). For this we had a sunny day, fortunately.
