Has anyone experienced the AMS-LAX 55 min connection on a Tuesday morning more recently? I understand that the ticket wouldn’t have been sold if it was not possible but I thought there was an additional check for flights to USA & the flight would already be boarding approximately 1 hour before the flight? Firstly, check the flight history of your feeder flight from HEL – quite often these can arrive ahead of scheduled at AMS. Secondly, the expedited short connection line is clearly marked, just follow the signage and show the staff your boarding pass.
The operating airline of the AMS-LAX sector will also see that you're connecting to the flight and can also hold the flight, if required, especially if there are a lot of passengers coming in from various feeders.
If you're taking KL601, I can see from the recent flight history that they hold the departure often for at least 30 minutes.
