This is one of numerous hotels serving Washington Reagan (DCA) airport. It's a couple miles from the airport. Our trip started off on the wrong foot at the airport, where we waited 40 minutes for the courtesy van to the hotel after seeing a dozen others pass. We called the hotel at this point to be told (after several minutes on hold) that they do not send the shuttle unless someone calls for it. This is not mentioned anywhere on their website or booking confirmation, which was disappointing, particularly because we waited at the curbside in the cold for an extended period.
We had a prepaid Honors Discount nonrefundable booking.
I stayed for one night as a Gold, accompanied by my wife. Online check in worked but asked us to stop by the front desk rather than giving a digital key. We waited for nearly ten minutes for the one front desk agent, and received a brief welcome and our room keys for an entirely different room than we selected. No mention of gold benefits, and no upgrade, although I guess that's not an entitlement at HGI.
Room was adequate with a microwave, fridge, coffee maker and sink. The hotel's restaurant is under refurbishment so we walked a couple blocks to see what was around. There's quite a few restaurants but after a long day we opted for microwave meals from the CVS
Signage in the hotel stated that housekeeping service was every other day, although we were only staying one night so it was not relevant.
Nothing remarkable about the room.
Breakfast was in a small part of the restaurant that was not closed with the refurbishment. The $10 F&B entitlement will get you a yoghurt parfait or a kid's American plate. There are other various à la carte options. We went for the buffet at $15.90 plus tax and tip, including hot drinks and juice. The selection was modest but covered all the main bases.
Checkout was a nightmare. Again one front desk agent who had poor English and was typing novels on the computer. He printed the folio and charged my card on file for the full amount of room, tax, and breakfast. As the room was prepaid and there should have been $20 off breakfast, I protested. Cue another ton of typing. I did eventually get a new folio with the right charges. The new charge went straight to my card; the correct refunds arrived a week later.
This was not a particularly good hotel choice for us, and I would select one of the other nearby Honors properties in the future.
