This thread seems to have a lot of discussion of the Credit not being applied but not much about the actual resort. We just finished a stay in Qtown opting not to stay in the Hilton but we did drive through on our way out of town. I'd like to ask what most people did in qtown while at the resort since it's really way out of town. Did you stay at the resort, go into town, have a car etc, hike bike? Where did you eat? We found the traffic around qtown pretty bad and the restaurants and food pretty expensive compared to other places in NZ. We spent a day in wanaka about an hour away but much quieter and just as beautiful. We couldn't see the draw of this particular Hilton but open to what we might not have considered. Love NZ and traveled extensively on South Island and Queenstown is good as a base to start your travels but don't stay long.
We stayed at the Hilton Queenstown in early December, as described in post #114.You are correct, it is out of town and with the Doubletree, somewhat isolated. We did not have a car and used the water taxi to get into town. Dinner was at the hotel restaurant or in town, The Hilton hotel does not have an executive lounge. Queenstown is a tourist destination and prices reflect this.
